Shea grew up in Cortez, Colorado and has lived in Durango for about 15 years. He started playing golf at 10 years old and quickly fell in love with the game. His playing accomplishments as a Junior golfer include a High School State Championship and a Colorado Junior Stroke Play Championship. With his performance on and off the golf course, Shea was offered a scholarship to play at the University of Colorado. Shea spent one year on the varsity golf team before deciding that he would turn professional and try to play for a living. He moved to Phoenix, Arizona to chase the dream. While in Phoenix, Shea reconnected with an Aussie friend, Drew Reid. Drew hired him to work at a John Jacobs Golf Academy where he provided instruction for the Academy and the John Jacobs Golf Schools. While in Phoenix, Shea had the opportunity to work under some of the best instructors in the game; Drew Reid, Craig Bunker and Shelby Futch. He has vast experience teaching in both an individual and group setting. He enjoys working with players of all ages, experience and abilities. Shea does not believe in any one methodology, but does like to focus on proper fundamentals, impact and ball flight. Correcting and understanding these crucial elements will allow students to improve and provide them with the ability to self-correct. Shea also beefed up his knowledge of Club Fitting throughout the years. In 2021 he was asked to join the National Fitters Council for Taylormade Golf. With his background in Exercise Science (Bachelor’s Degree), he is also capable of helping golfers with their fitness needs and aspirations. He is Titleist Performance Institute Certified to provide screenings and advice to further help his students improve mobility, flexibility, strength and functionality. Shea is excited and grateful to Dalton Ranch for providing him the opportunity to start the Elevated Golf Academy.
